Widnes sits on the north bank of the Mersey, a short run down the M57 and M62. We cover the town centre, Upton Rocks, Farnworth, Appleton, Ditton and West Bank.
The town grew up on the chemical industry. The Catalyst science museum on Spike Island tells the story, right by the old Silver Jubilee Bridge.
